Linen Closet Organization with Walmart Home

One of my favorite things to do is organize. I love knowing where everything is in our home, and it brings me so much joy to create a dedicated spot for things so that it helps keep our home tidy and functional. After I created this built in linen closet last year I didn’t spend much time thinking about how it would function best, and after about a year of use, it needed some reorganization.

With the help of Walmart Home I was able to pull this closet together and get the storages pieces I needed to make it functional, but still pretty! The shelves are about 24” deep, so I picked up these slim water hyacinth baskets to place in front of folded linens to maximize the storage space. They come in a set of three—with one large rectangular basket, and two smaller square baskets that I was able to use in the drawers to help corral smaller cleaning and personal care items. I like that everything in here is in the center of the hallway upstairs so guests can also easily access whatever they need.

I kept my first aid box on the bottom shelf in front of our extra towels. I picked this up from Walmart Home about three years ago an we still love it! It’s so nice to have a designated place to keep all of our first aid items. It’s clearly marked so a guest would know exactly where to look for medicine or medical supplies without even having to ask!

I also picked up this cleaning caddy to use to corral all of our bathroom cleaning supplies. I like that it has a handle so we can easily grab it and carry it around the house wherever it’s needed. It’s on sale for under $10 right now! I was able to order it online and pick it up from my local store. I love how easy Walmart’s free in store pickup service is to use!

I also grabbed this water hyacinth laundry basket which matches the baskets perfectly! It’s really large and makes an everyday task like laundry a lot more fun and pretty! Most of the items that I’ve purchased are from the Better Homes and Gardens line. It’s one of my all time favorites from Walmart Home—I’m always so happy with how affordable and stylish their pieces are!

I love how this space turned out! I’ve been imagining some beautiful woven baskets in these shelves for a long time now, and I’m so happy with the added functionality they’ve brought this space while keeping me on budget. Serena and Lily Pierson Dresser Review

Today I’m sharing a home office update! As you all know, in March and April I worked very hard to turn this space that once was our guest room, into the office of my dreams! I’ve now had my Serena and Lily Pierson Dresser in my office for about three months, so I wanted to share a review of how I’m liking it. I originally sourced this piece for my new office because my sample library was growing and I needed a ton of storage space. I chose the Pierson Dresser because of its wide width (62” wide, 20” deep) and it’s versatile silhouette. I love that this piece is the focal point of the space. It really grounds the back wall, and compliments the Valley Wallpaper so nicely.

I love the extra tall legs on the Pierson Dresser. They give this piece such a versatile look that allows it to be used in so many spaces aside from a bedroom. I think the Pierson Dresser could be used as a sideboard as well as a dresser, and would look nice in an entryway, dining room, office, bedroom, or also as a media console! I know this piece is going to be with me for a very long time, and is likely going to have many uses throughout its lifetime.

I love the craftsmanship of Serena and Lily pieces. The Pierson Dresser has solid wood drawers with a natural wood interior, with a soft closing mechanism that gives the piece a luxe feel. It fits all my samples with room to spare! I love that I don’t have to get up out of my desk chair in order to access everything I need.

The simple shaker style drawer fronts and inset detail give this piece a clean and timeless look. This is surely a piece that will remain a stylish favorite for many years to come. It’s very important to me to choose pieces that have a classic and timeless feel, but with a modern twist. This is another thing that I know I’m sure to find from Serena and Lily, and they certainly delivered with the Pierson Dresser! I have already loved it for years, and am certain I’ll continue to love it for many more.

Another favorite feature of mine is the tray style top the Pierson Dresser has. This gives the pieces such a unique and custom feel, and is a detail I have never seen on any dresser before. It’s one of the features that originally caught my eye! The hand-forged brass hardware also gives the piece just the right amount of polish. The pulls are very solid in hand and give the piece an effortless, sophisticated feel.

This piece is very easy to care for and low maintenance—I simply dust it off with a soft, dry dusting cloth once a week to keep it looking good as new! The white painted finish has a slight glossy sheen, which helps make it easy to wipe down. The extra tall tapered legs allow me to easily run the vacuum underneath, so I never have to worry about moving it to clean up the dust bunnies every few months like with most traditional dressers. In case you do have to shift it around on occasion, it's worry free! It’s been tip tested and exceeds the industry standard for stability. I think Serena and Lily pieces are the best made pieces we have in our home—they make is easy to always source them with confidence for my clients.

I’d say the paint finish is a true, slightly warm, bright white. If you’re not sure it will work in your space, you can easily order a sample swatch of the furniture! I love that Serena and Lily offers swatches for many of their items so you can be sure you’ll love it in your home before you place your order. The hand-forged brass hardware is similar to an aged or antique brass look, and has a very luxe feel to it. In my opinion, it’s the perfect tone! It’s what I always strive for when I source brass finishes.

I would highly recommend the Pierson Dresser to anyone! It’s a piece that can be used in virtually any room, which makes this a worry free investment to add to your furniture collection! It’s solid, quality craftsmanship makes it a piece that you will be able to cherish for many years, and it’s unique detailing sets it apart from the rest.

Powder Bathroom Reveal!

The bathroom is finally complete! We’re so happy with this new space—it finally feels truly like it belongs in our house. I loved the old bathroom design, but it was honestly a compilation of quick fixes for many things that we didn’t previously have the knowledge or budget to do correctly the first time around. It was the first project I had ever used our miter saw on, and it was what gave me the confidence to tackle bigger projects in our home, so for that I’m grateful.

I’ve always envisioned a vanity in with a marble top in here, and I think it makes such a huge difference in the space! I knew I wanted to go with the meadowsweet wallpaper from Serena and Lily, and natural wood vanity was the perfect piece to keep the space feeling warm and inviting.

I still love our mirror, faucet, and towel ring so I kept those in the design. I’m so happy with how the design turned out, and for this space to truly feel like us.

Kitchen Reveal!

Our kitchen is finished! After four years of patiently waiting, we finally have a clean and updated space. We’re both so grateful to have this space complete, and have learned so much throughout the gradual renovation process the past six months! I’m going to share all the sources below!

Today I’m sharing sneak peek at our completed kitchen renovation, styled with help from Walmart Home! I know you all love affordable finds as much as I do, so today I’ve put together a roundup of a bunch of things I’m loving from Walmart Home right now!

Everything I used to style this corner of our kitchen is from Walmart Home and is under $15 each! I chose this bamboo cutting board to layer against the backsplash to pull in some warmth to this area. I love using decor that’s pretty and functional, so it’s right at my fingertips whenever I need it.

I added in this pretty white rustic vase with some fresh flowers and this sheer jasmine candle. I love the fluted glass vessel it comes in and think it would make a nice jar to keep once the candle is gone!

Our Serena and Lily Lighting

Today I’m sharing a roundup of all our Serena and Lily lighting in a blog post! I’ve been slowly incorporating their lighting in our home throughout the years and have come to realize it’s one of my favorite categories of products they sell. I think lighting makes a huge impact in a space—not only in the way it looks, but how it feels. I’ve chosen to include a lot of Serena and Lily lighting in our home because I think it’s a great combination of all the aspects I look for when selecting lighting, which is quality, functionality and aesthetics.

I have always been drawn to the Serena and Lily lighting collection, and love the laid back but high end feel of their lighting. The pieces are high quality and well made, which are the most important features I look for when selecting a new light fixture, aside from aesthetics. Lighting is not something that I like to switch up often, and would prefer to invest more of my design budget in. Serena and Lily lighting has such a classic look, that I feel confident that the pieces I choose will look nice in my home for many years.

It’s been said that lighting is the jewelry of the room, and I completely agree with that statement! All of the Serena and Lily lighting in our home feels like the perfect finishing touch that draws your attention and has a big visual impact. I always like to create spaces that include a good high/low mix of products, but I always utilize more of the budget to incorporate high end lighting, like Serena and Lily lighting. I think it’s a great use of the design budget, as lighting can really make or break a space. When it’s done well, it creates unforgettable design that leaves a lasting impact.

I’m going to share a few of our Serena and Lily lighting pieces along with my favorite features about them. First up, I’m going to share the first two pieces that I purchased, which I know are an audience favorite as well. The Flynn floor lamp and single wall sconce. I love the mix of metal and the woven wicker shade. These fixtures can give any space a warm and relaxed feel, and I love the way the light casts through the wicker shade at night. I also incorporated these in my Mom’s bedroom makeover a couple years ago and she has said they’re one of her favorite things about her room.

Next up on our Serena and Lily lighting tour are my table lamps. I have the Midbrook and Maybrook tables lamps which feel like sisters. They’re very similar in style and functionality. The thing I love most about these lamps in the built in dimmer switch. They don’t click on like most lamps, but allow you the ability to turn the switch to get the lighting just right. I’m extremely particular about the lighting in our spaces in the evening, so I like to have full control of how bright our lighting was. When I used to buy lower quality lighting I’d have to purchase a separate dimmer to attach to each lamp, and it was always a pain and didn’t give me anywhere near the control over the brightness as these two lamps do.

I hate to play favorites, but the Midbrook table lamp is one of my absolute favorite tables lamps from our Serena and Lily lighting collection. The oversized base and extra large empire shade really commands attention and gives any space a luxe feel. This lamp is so heavy and is excellent quality—much like it’s sister, the Maybrook lamp.

Another audience favorite is the Edgehill table lamp. I love the modern twist on a classic look and it makes for a perfect desk or nightstand lamp. I’m very particular about brass finishes, and this is the perfect finish in my opinion. I also enjoy the warm brassy light that comes from it at night—it really makes the space feel warm and cozy. It also has a dimmer switch so you can adjust the lighting to the perfect setting.

Moving on to the next Serena and Lily lighting category—chandeliers! We have a couple pieces from their collection, the Capiz Honeycomb Chandelier, and the Pescadero Tiered Chandelier. Both of these light fixtures were on my wish list for many years, and as I’ve incorporated each of them into our home over the past couple years they have definitely exceeded my expectations! I incorporated the Capiz Honeycomb Chandelier into our stairwell in early 2020 and it was the perfect finishing touch for that space. I love the iridescent look of the capiz shells and the touch of brass throughout. It has a polished look without feeling too formal. I love that I can stare at it all day from my desk in my new office!

The newest addition to our Serena and Lily lighting collection is the Pescadero Tiered Chandelier. This light has been on my wishlist the longest of any of the fixtures I’ve shared in this post, and far exceeded my expectations! This is one of those pieces that just cannot be done justice in photos or even videos. It adds so much softness and dimension to my office, and I love the way it glows at night. The coconut shells are all illuminated from within, and it makes for such an inviting glow on the nights I work well into the evening hours.

I, of course, love all of our Serena and Lily lighting, but aside from what I already own I’m going to share a few pieces that I’ve had my eye on, or are my go-to’s for client designs.
